Our New Riverkeeper Lead
Our Riverkeeper program is our eyes on our River. It is an organized team of volunteers who watch over their assigned stretch for downed trees blocking the River, violations of the Natural Rivers Act, beavers out of control and anything else that threatens it.
Eric Bankhead organized this program more than a dozen years ago and has been leading and coordinating its efforts ever since. He recruits and trains the volunteers, takes the calls, refers the violations to the authorities, and gets the contractors in for the fix - or does it himself.
Eric is stepping away now, so we have appointed his successor - Larry Warner. We know Larry and know that this important work is in the best of hands. Here they are at the Foundation Social, "passing the torch" with a clink of their drinks (Eric with his beer and Larry with that terrific pinot noir we had at the Social).
